CFDI White Paper: Electronic invoice in Mexico
The rollout of e-Invoicing in Mexico goes back to 1997.
The Mexican government is constantly developing its CFDI (Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet) e-Invoicing system to enhance it and achieve an efficient model for both taxpayers and the Tax Authority. The aim of these changes is, on the one hand, to improve the e-Invoicing user experience among taxpayers and, on the other, to correct some of the inefficiencies detected over the years, through the launching of new structures and schemas.
CFDI system requires issuers to engage the services of an Authorized Certification Provider to manage their invoices. In 2010, EDICOM was the first authorized PAC authorized by the SAT, in charge of validating and managing electronic invoices, withholdings and payroll.
